When the car was found it was in pretty poor shape, having been lying outside unprotected from the elements for over a decade! As you can see from the pictures a tree had also fallen onto the driver's door causing significant damage.
To restore the car back to original condition, a complete back to bare chassis rebuild was required. Many hours were spent restoring the original parts back to new condition.
The body tub had to have some welding and repairs before it could be sent away for paint. As a final check for fit, the body was lowered onto the completed chassis to check everything was in the correct alignment before finally being removed and placed onto a specialist jig for paint.
The tub was lowered onto our support trolley, enabling us to move the project around and enabling access to everything. A full respray was required and regular inspections were made to ensure the quality achieved was of a very high standard.
Finally, after 18 months of hard work the car was back on the road.
YD1/907 is now on the road and have also been taken around a track as the engine is very smooth and also quick. We did consider turning her into a fully specified race car, however we then acquired YD1/1782 an original Fitzwilliam team race car. YD1/907 has taken part in events around Silverstone, Brands Hatch and the famous Donnington Park Circuit
