YD1 600 - Fitzwilliam team race car ‘VUF 541’
We are very pleased to have recently acquired the sister Fitwilliam team car to TWN 900. The Fitzwilliam team ran 3 MGA Twincam race cars between 1959 and 1960. The first of the three cars to be purchased for the team was VUF 541 which was purchased by the team captain Richard W Fitzwilliam in 1958. The Fitzwilliam team was made up of 3 members; R.Fitzwilliam (VUF 541), P.Fletcher (WGN 734) and C.Martyn (TWN 900). VUF 541, fondly referred to as ‘Vuff’, had been missing since 1962 until it was discovered in an old shed by Bob West a few years ago. Vuff was raced extensively, competing at the Nürburgring in the 1000km, and at Goodwood in the Witsun Trophy. Our plan is to restore the car to it's original racing specifications and to once again have Vuff out competing in races alongside it's team sister TWN 900.
